SOMEONE STOLE THE SANDWICH VAN! No joke! So, I'm jobless.

And so today my boredom brought me to try a wedding cake recipe. Almond Butter Wedding Cake with Apricot Filling... and I decided to make my first attempt at decorating... not half bad!!

SNOW DAY!

So, today... Jax had his first official SNOW DAY!

PA People: You can still see GROUND and they cancelled school for THIS! And 80% of the school WALKS there!!!

Not that I'm not thankful- no school run or running cooking club after school with the 4 & 5 year olds... but still...

This is an early morning frost where I come from!!

The whole country basically shuts down at the thought of snow. I think this is how they make up for not having a 4th of July...

So, we're making "warm" cocoa and catching up on our TV viewing...

AND HOPEFULLY THEY ARE DELIVERING MY NEW COUCHES TODAY!

Every Rugby Wife and their mother has ordered DFS couches in the last month.

I went with the San Remo model. I'm absurdly happy with them. They are Kurt-Sized and have a recliner in ever seat!

I hope they get here soon so I can lay on them all the lazy afternoon!

I was also FINALLY able to order the entertainment center of my dreams. And yes, my dreams are lame and housewife-like. What of it?! Wanna fight about it?! Overseas you can't get anything remotely resembling this...

But I found a way!!! A super-secret and special way!! Okay... I just had the furniture store on Feltwelt order one for me... and it may take six months... but I found a way!

Winter is making me lazy. And by lazy I, of course, mean lazier. Spring can't come soon enough...

Footblah...

I care little to nothing about the Super Bowl.

But my hubby was nice enough to stay home and order a Chinese take-away and watch the game with me. So, kind of an awesome Sunday DESPITE all the football involved.

I don't know what has happened in the last decade. I used to LOVE football! Especially college games. But now... I'd rather watch a period drama or a documentary!

So, I'm off to feign interest... Go Steelers?

I didn't bother with resolution. I never keep them anyway.

It's gonna be a good year!!

Kurt is going to Izmir, Turkey in May for a 12 month remote (by himself) tour. But don't feel too bad for him cause THIS is Izmir...









Of course we're going to miss the heck out of him!! He's making a huge sacrifice to be away from his family for a whole year. He's doing this so that we can stay in England for another tour. We have had an amazing experience raising Jax in this tiny village. Good people, great schools, crappy weather... But seriously, Jax has blossomed here and I really appreciate Kurt taking one for the team on this one so our son can acquire his foundational education here at a wonderful Christian School that takes into account the whole person and not just academics.

I could not have better things to say about St. Mary's in Mildenhall and I thank God for the wonderful team of teachers Jax has had in this village since nursery school!

Other than that news we're just chugging along here! Jax & Kurt went home to Virginia where little man was spoiled rotten. They're having a bit of trouble adjusting to the time change this trip...

They had a great visit and hopefully we can do it again soon. And if my MOTHER would ever sort out her digital PICTURES I could POST them HERE!!

Procrastinating...

So, I really should be doing school... But I'm not!!!

I despise school at the moment. I'm in an Anatomy & Physiology Class- which I expected to LOVE- but I don't. And I don't feel like doing my lab so... here's a nonsense blog!

Let's see... what can I come up with? Well, first and foremost on my mind...

The Twilight Saga has ROCKED MY SOCKS!! I adored the books and I am super-psyched about the movie coming out THIS FRIDAY! Although I will be in Germany this weekend...

Yay! I will be viewing Twilight the very second I return!!

Um, what else? Oh! I bought and IPod!!!

It was an extravagence of the highest order but it makes life so much... dancier. It's like having a soundtrack to life! Like when Peter on Family Guy gets that Genie to grant him "theme music" for his daily routine.

Anyhoo, Jax is growing like a weed. Seriously. I put him into size 8 at the beginning of the school year and got rid of all his 6/7. And the 8's were HUGE on him so I felt a little silly for having gotten rid of all the old sizes. And now the 8's are getting SMALL! I swear to you this kid has seriously grown two inches in two months! He's up to my shoulder now!!! He eats on a pretty constant basis grazing like a cow. Which leads me to tell you... I made Lumpia!

Lumpia is a Philipino dish. It's like an egg-roll, sorta. It's got cabbage, carrot, onion and all sorts of yummy goodness. My friends mom, who is originally from the Philipines, showed me how to make them. Bless her heart!

Thanksgiving is coming. I don't think I'm doing a meal this year. Think we're just going to order a Chinese take-away. I'll be REALLY thankful for THAT! Probably still make a couple of pies though.

Kurt and Jax are heading home for Christmas to Virgina. They're going to have a blast. And I'm going to have the Christmas Cookies all to myself!! Mwahahaha!

If the landlord okays it we're going to have a new kitchen installed, maybe over the Christmas holiday! Oh Bliss!!

I don't think that's what it's going to look like... but an extractor fan that works, works for me! They are going with a lighter wood this time to try and brighten the TINY space up and lowering the cabinets. (No short jokes are I'm banning you from my blog...)

Alright... Kurt's back from the store so I better get to work. Dang it! If I ever get a day off I'll write you all a proper blog. One with actual updates and less nonsense. But my brain is on overload at the moment so what you see is what you get!!

Oldie but a Goodie

I'm getting old... Here's how I know:



The cold is starting to bother me.

In the surprising accurate photo above you can see a person all bundled up in winter garb. That's me. I work outside most of the time. Packing Russian Dolls in a barn, delivering sandwiches to remote sites... and the cold is starting to make me angry. I think I was excited about the nip in the autumn air for about .5 seconds and the WHAM! Cranky. I'm avoiding baths and showers like a 10 year old boy cause it's just so darn chilly when you get out!! And I'm not turning up the heating... cause I'm old.

Food that was once my friend has turned on me!

What once could be whipped into shape during a whirlwind week at the gym now takes dedicated months of sacrifice! Ridiculous!!

The reign of processed food is officially over. I find myself looking at nutrition labels for things such as "fiber" and "calories". And I think, off and on (mostly off), about the benefits of a vegetarian diet (bacon being the exception obviously). Who knows about organic food?? Get at me... cause I'm old.

I love to sit.

I creak like a rusty gate.

I am now aware of how I look when I bend over and what light and angle should be presented.

I don't mind the wrinkles... they add character. But I'm getting crochety and so is Kurt...


And, God willing, we've got 50 more years or so of this...
